- Old Postcard for the Casa Lido Bar
In years after I came out in the late ’s the focus of most gay experience in Trenton were the bars, clubs and discos that catered to our community. I recall four bars, Casa Lido and Club 21 on South Warren Street downtown, the Wooden Indian on South Broad Street in South Trenton and the Zodiac on South Genesee Street in, what I believe was, Franklin Park. The locations of the first 3 are firm but my memory is shaky on the Zodiac. Genesee Road seems right but the cross lane escapes me and its distance from the city line with Hamilton Township at Cedar Street eludes me.
These bars served different segments of the queer community with the Wooden Indian having a strong Sapphic slant, Club 21 tilting to older men, Casa Lido having a broader age range with a bit more macho vibe, and the Zodiac serving a younger, dancing clientele. The Widows Watch on the corner of South Broad and Liberty Streets did at some point endeavor to attract lgbtq+ patronage with ‘gay nights’. None of these establishments still exist and others took there places for differing

Rainbow Rose Center
The Rainbow Rose Center is a valuable resource which provides connections, emergency rental assistance & housing back, name change assistance, and more to the group in York County. They offer great support groups for all adult identities, gender diversity, QTPOC, living proudly with HIV, silver triangle, and proud families. The Rainbow Rose Center also offers custom training sessions which help you to understand the LGBTQIA+ people, including our rights, risks, and needs a bit better. Topics within these training sessions include allyship, health, domestic violence, politics, youth, aging, transitioning, and more.

WILKES-BARRE A Dunmore man plans to open a downtown Wilkes-Barre bar appealing to the LGBT community in August.
The bar, called Heat, will be the latest to open in a building at 69 N. Main St. that formerly housed a Mexican restaurant and several other restaurants before that.
Dunmore resident Joseph Hetsko, a former bartender at Twist LGBT bar which recently closed in Plains Twp., has a rental agreement to lease the building from owner Thom Greco.
He initially plans to open the bar and lounge on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. beginning Aug. 1. He said a grand opening celebration is planned Aug. 8 to kick off PrideFest weekend. The bar will main attraction a disc jockey and dancing.
The year-old said he believes downtown Wilkes-Barre is a great place for the bar and lounge since it is close to Kings College and Wilkes University and its an area occupied of culture and diversity.
Its filling the void of something the community needs, Mr. Hetsko said.
Twist closed its doors in the Fox Ridge Plaza on Way in Plains Twp. last month.
